Poor Management

Oh my goodness, this week was so crazy. I had two tests and a paper due. I'm glad that it's all done and that I'm getting to relax this weekend.

So, the management at our apartment complex has been a bit difficult to deal with. We have a property management company and also some onsite management. Over a month ago I sent them an email saying that we had a leaky kitchen sink and it has still not been fixed. Finally after getting ahold of them again and asking them to come this week I got an email from them on Wednesday night saying that they would come the next morning to fix it. Apparently they don't care if we are home or not and they don't really care if WE care or not... Because they didn't ask. So we make sure all the dishes are done and the area around the sink is clean before we go to work and school the next day. While I was at work I received an email from our property management company saying that we now have new management... So our sink was NOT fixed when we got home. Are you kidding me?! I think they might have gotten fired for not doing anything. It would sure make sense to me if that's what happened. So I emailed the new guy and he emailed me back within like an hour! Ok, now that's more like it. He has already made an appointment to come by on Monday when I will be home. Ok this is much better. But I must say, it's about time.

But it's not all good news. In the same email about the new management, they also informed all of the tenants that they will be raising the prices... Again. Starting in September the rent will be raised by $50 a month. Boo! They are also taking away the internet and cable that has been included up to this point. So lame! In order to get our own internet it will end up costing us a lot more and on top of raising the prices, I don't think so! Now, we were already looking into finding another place possibly for next year. Mostly because we realize that we could get a two bedroom for not much more, and especially now. I went and looked at a place yesterday that is just literally across the street from where we are now, in the same ward and everything. It is a two bedroom. Both bedrooms are bigger than our bedroom now. The bathroom has two sinks, there is a dishwasher, the fridge and stove are both only a year old. There is tons of cabinet space and storage and everything. The floor plan is nice and open and it includes internet and cable! My friend Kirsten who lives there said that she loves it and the that the management is SO great! If we moved over there it would only cost us about $50 more. Is that worth it? Yeah, we think so. So we are going to go fill out an application in the next few days for August so that we can ensure that we get a place. I mean really, we would get better management, new appliances (and a dishwasher!), a whole other bedroom, another sink in the bathroom, counter space in the kitchen... There are SO many reasons to move there. I'm a little bit excited so I really hope it works out. I mean, yeah, it's 6 months away, but in Provo you've got to be on top of things like housing, good deals go fast around here.

We still haven't heard anything about internships for David yet, he should be finding out sometime this month where we will be spending our summer. I hope he finds out soon so that we can decide where to go and start planning for it.

Today is both my brother Jeff's birthday and David's sister Deborah's birthday. So we are going over to David's parents house tonight for a birthday dinner and cake and stuff. We got her an herb growing kit and another little plant because she loved to grow things in their greenhouse, so we thought she would have fun with it.

Well, right now David is watching The Phantom of the Opera on tv, the actual play version and not the movie, so I think I'm going to go watch it with him now and maybe play some James Bond on the 64 too since we have them on separate tvs in the same room.

  1. Ah, no fun to be in an apartment when they don't fix your stuff! Hope you guys get into the new place. It would be fun to see pics of how you decorate and stuff :)
